Okay, so now that I have been there twice, I feel confident I can discuss this new place.
TVs are the first thing you notice. My first trip was during the Derby and the TVs were very loud. It abated. though, after Giacomo won. The crowd was fun, though, cheering on the Philly horse (can't remember the name).
The service was abysmal on the first trip. The waitress kept bringing my husband a pulled pork sandwich...after he ordered tuna. This happened three times. My crabcake sandwich was fine...nothing special.
What sets this place apart is the appetizer/dessert menus....had hot dogs in a blanket for the nostalga. Awesome with great mustards to dip in. Had the banan ravioli for dessert...the bananas were a bit gummy but the dessert was otherwise fabulous. The waitress obviously coulsn't have cared less, though. Cold, nasty and unapologetic for the thrice made mistake...maybe she was having a bad day, but it didn't reflect well.
On Tuesday, my husband and I went againt for a late dinner of appetizers and dessert. Hot dogs again...nachos and then the ravioli again. Perfect complement to the Philies game and cold beer. Waitress (a different one) this time was GREAT.
Basically, this is a place that still needs to work out the kinks but a great sports bar with pretty good basic food. Nothing fancy or gourmet, but tasty. Just what a girl needs for a baseball game.
