Breakfast goodies from Hopkins Street Bakery

A couple early morning meetings have been made more bearable by baskets of breakfast pastries from Hopkins Street Bakery in Berkeley. I’ve not been to the shop, but after trying these goods, I’ll be checking it out and would appreciate tips on favorites from ‘hounds.

A cranberry morning bun was light and crusty and bursting with tart cranberries. A dusting of sugar provided an extra boost of sweetness to balance the bite of the cranberries. I picked up a rugelach-looking goody because it was the smallest item. After one bite of the rich pastry (likely sour cream or cream cheese-based), layered with dried fruits and cinnamon sugar, I soon figured out that it would be impossible to consume more than that size portion. The pastries seemed less sweet to me and had a wholesome natural taste.
