Best Bread Course - Restaurant San Francisco

OC Mutt | Sep 6, 201901:00 PM     13

Hi Hounds, I'm looking to identify the best bread and butter course in the city of San Francisco. I realize that the convention of the bread and butter start of a meal is going by the wayside, and the free version is waning as well, but even if the best one is now an extra charge, I'd love to know where that is. Since the ingredients are simple, bread + butter, obviously they each must be excellent in their own right!

This course may seem simple, but so many things can go wrong. Stale bread, dry bread, butter so cold and rock-solid that it takes weeks to get to spreadable temperature, etc. etc. and of course the worst atrocity - cheap flavorless cold unsalted butter. Serving unsalted butter with bread is the culinary equivalent of tatooing "I'm a dimwit" on one's forehead.

Note: I do not approve of unsalted butter but if it's amazing butter, I am capable of putting salt on it myself, though I'm skeptical of anyone who would serve it with bread in the first place.

Thanks hounds!!
