I don't really want to say *the best* because that is so subjective.
And the level of baked bread in the Valley is insanely good, and lightyears beyond where we were say 10 years ago. That being said, Your favorites?
I used to be a big fan of Hungry Ghost in Noho, but I'm not a fan of all the excess flour on the crusts. Yesterday we picked up a multigrain loaf from El Jardin (Deerfield), and it is amazingly excellent. Great crust, flavorful, chewy, just a perfect loaf.
