So I got around to baking a loaf of bread in an enabled cast iron pot using this King Arthur method. I was very pleased with the finished product, the steam created a nice crispy crust but when I went to cleanup the pot there was a layer of polymerized vegetable oil (the yellow gunky stuff) all over the sides and bottom. I've soaked and then steamed in hot soapy water with vinegar without much luck. It might be Easy Off Oven Cleaner time. I wonder if I can get away without oiling the pan? Just use a little cornmeal or semolina under the raw dough? Thanks!
