My wife and I are partial because we used to live around the corner and ate there many, many times, usually at the bar with the always charming Cesar on a weeknight. I'd order the Colonnade Royale (Ketel One, Grand Marnier, and Pommery Champagne, as I recall?), one of the enormous house martinis, and we'd enjoy the warm baguette, carrots with horseradish vinaigrette, and a hardboiled egg while awaiting our entrees. It always felt like our reliable standby, even during terrible Boston winters. We went less often after moving, significantly so for quite a while after having children, who eventually behaved well enough to take there and loved the French green beans, as well as the children's steak and salmon mains.

As with Maison Robert, where we got married, and The Blue Room, where we had many special meals, including a party for one of my parents' anniversaries and a dinner for my dad's retirement (also a dinner where we informed my parents that we were expecting a child), we are sad to lose a piece of our own local history.
