Best Brand for Russian Salted Tomatoes?

LiliSG | Mar 9, 201804:26 PM

Hey everyone, so I have two Russian friends that have both said one of their favorite things to eat is salted tomatoes. This consequently made me curious to try it, and so I followed a recipe I found online a little over a week ago, and they will likely take about another week before they're allegedly ready (according to more than one recipe I looked at). Because I've never had them before, I ended up going to a Russian market today after work to buy a store-bought jar to get some sort of sense of what it's supposed to taste like. This led me to wonder... what brand was the better one to buy? I did not take a picture of the selection, but I was hoping that maybe someone familiar with salted tomatoes and that does buy them in store-bought jars (at least occasionally) might be able to recommend a good brand. I did end up picking a jar out at random. They were all about the same price. This one had garlic cloves in it so that seemed great to me since I'm obsessed with garlic.

Anyways, I've attached a photo of the jar I bought. If anyone has any suggestions, I would be interested in hearing about your favorite brand, and why. I bought mine at Moscow on the Hudson on 181st.
