braised pork

Pork lovers may be interested in trying the braised pork at Shanghai Cafe (Factoria mall, Bellevue). A very large boneless piece of pork, skin-on, in a rich brown sauce. The skin does not have the traditional dark brown glaze associated with this dish (dong po pork or ti pa pork) but the sauce is flavorful and the meat is for the most part surprisingly tender. LIsted on the menu as Braised Pork Pump (perhaps a mispelling of Rump?) Their Shanghai pork dumplings are disappointing (no soup inside) and their pea vines are also too tough and stringy to eat, unfortunately.
