Botana 3.0

schwantz | Feb 3, 200512:45 PM

The newest incarnation of Botana recently opened in the outer Mission - next to the Odeon, across the street from Blue Plate. This time, though, they aren't making burritos. Chef Cynthia is making all sorts of mostly-organic sandwiches, salads, and baked goods. They are making almost everything from scratch, from the pesto sauce to the bread. I've eaten there twice now, and I've really enjoyed it. The first time, I had an hot open-faced roast beef sandwich with pesto and a side salad of organic greens. Last night I had a simple pesto pizza and a blueberry smoothie. Things are a little bare-bones right now (for example, there is no sign out front), but the food has been way better than my expectations. If you live in Bernal/Noe/Outer Mission, you should stop by and try something - we could use a low-priced place to get good, healthy food.
