Excuse the baiting headline, but I will be traveling to Boston from the Pacific NW, and would like to experience a true Boston eating (or drinking) establishment. Gourmet food is not important, but if that's what's best I'll take it. However, I'd love to try a great Irish bar, or some old New England tavern with apple pie and cheddar cheese, if that's what's best. Does the North End have some amazing Italian? I've heard about Legal Sea Foods--is that the best sea food in town or just the most famous? Is there a reason Dunkin' Donuts began in Boston? Is Boston known for it's donuts?
Funny, when I think of Boston, nothing much comes to my mind culinarily. I'd love it if any or all of you local Hounds can set me (and all future readers of this post) straight!
Thanks in advance!
