Boston Bakes for Breast cancer dessert

Joanie | May 7, 200806:03 AM

I read about this recently and usually try to hit up one or two desserts during the week that it's going on. Too bad the restaurants themselves don't seem to know about it. I'd been at a party at the Liberty (wow, what a space but the tidbits of food weren't overly impressive) and thought that since Figs was close, I'd get a red velvet cupcake as listed on the enclosed site. The hostess had no idea what I was talking about and didn't really check with anyone else, told me they don't serve dessert except bread pudding to go and I didn't argue. Esp. since the dessert at Bonfire had caught my eye but again, hostess had to ask about 3 people if this event was going on. The woman bartending said she knows they usually participate and was pissed that they didn't inform her of the special dessert. In any case, it's not strawberry beignets but raspberry donuts served on the side. They were very good but I should have left a couple of those and concentrated on the espresso semifreddo ($8). Yum yum yum, that was great stuff, good coffee flavor and consistency, served with nice whipped cream.

So check it out if you can but make sure you inform the restaurant that they're participating. Sheesh.
