So I have a trip planned to the USA next year (2018) and will be in NYC for a week in May.
Dreaming and planning as you do I've started to test the reservation systems for some of the 'dream' restaurants that I have always wanted to dine in. I've noticed that if you select 1 diner, mostly through Open Table, it will give you no availability at all. Once you change it to 2, BOOM availability all over the show.
I am specifically talking about Le Bernardin, Per Se and Jean-Georges. Eleven Madison Park seems fine as long as you get in early and Chef's Table is phone based so can deal with that.
It's a fair way off but I would like to hear from anyone who has booked these restaurants as a solo diner and how they went about it. Is it simply a matter of getting in as soon as reservations open up? Or ringing/emailing the restaurant directly?
Would hate to miss out on these experiences just because I am by myself.
