I love bone broth; I make it light, and drink it like tea. Loaded with calcium, it's great for increasing bone density, fighting osteoporosis, and general health... it's a super-food! I make it by the gallon, using either lightly or darkly roasted beef femur bones, depending on what flavor I'm going for. No preservatives, made with distilled water.
Well, I got quite a surprise this morning. One jar of bone broth turned pink!!!! This particular quart jar seems to have snuck down to the bottom corner of the fridge door, and was forgotten or ignored.
As you can see in the pic, on the left is what a "light" bone broth is supposed to look like. A light tan color, similar to the color of a gently roasted bone. On the right is the subject in question, which looks suspiciously like pink lemonade, but I assure you, is not!
It does not have a bad odor. Anyone know what kind of voodoo is at work here? I must say that I'm a bit curious; I have to resist the temptation to add a little seltzer water (or champagne!), sip on it, and see if I meet the ghost of Jerry Garcia. The last time I did something like that, I was praying to the porcelain god for two days.
Thanks, tk :)
