Bon Appetit fruit jellies - hated them.

A warning here for Chowpup and anyone else comtemplating these. They looked so pretty in Bon Appetit, I couldn't resist. Plus, I'm sure I had some fabulous pate de fruit in Paris, or maybe it was Fauchon in NY. Anyhow, these were a different animal.

I made only the cranberry ones. It's pretty simple directions, so I don't see how I could have screwed it up.

First, the directions say to use an 8x8 pan. Mine was more like 8 1/2, nonetheless, the little squares were way too thick. I wound up cutting the block horizontally before I cut the squares.

Second, they did not gel *quite* enough, IMO.

Finally, cranberry is probably a bad flavor idea, because I could not shake the feeling that I was eating canned cranberry sauce that had petrified.
Oh, and the sanding sugar eventually dissolves in, so they don't even LOOk great.

In conclusion, as my husband said, "they're not terrible".
