Do you think boiled corned beef can be rushed by an hour or so?

I just started cooking it over the stovetop 20 minutes ago and now have it at a hard simmer. I lost track of time but I do have all the vegetables prepared and just put an Irish soda bread in the oven. I normally bake the brisket for about 2 hours and then add all the veg at the last hour. Possible it can be tender in 2 or 2 1/2 hours? I just looked at it and it's already shrunk to a small rectangle.
