If you're not familiar with Hawaiin Shaved Ice, it is simular to a raspada (snow cone) except that the ice is SHAVED. It is extremely fluffy and soaks up the syrup flavoring. Raspadas are made with crushed ice and you usually end up with all the syrup at the bottom of the cup.

I'll go first, I live in the San Gabriel Valley and there is this Japanese Hawaiin Joint in Montery Park called Shakas. THey offer a small and a LARGE, the large will fill you up. Also they have the option of adding a scoop of vanilla ice cream into the ice. There is a HUGE selection of flavors and no limit to your choices.
Anyways, the large is 3.79 or so if you get it with a scoop of ice cream. Have never ordered the small, I see no point.
On a HOT summer day like we have been having, Shakas is the JOINT!

P.S. This BLOWS raspadas away! ! !
IT's on the corner of Riggin and Garfield just north of the 60 frewway.
