Bobby Loco's -- Avoid at All Costs

My mom and I were shopping at DSW at the Sherman Oaks Galleria and she proposed trying the new restaurand there -- Bobby Loco's Baja Grill.

What a mistake. As my mom said -- and she is one of the most polite people I know -- it was "nasty."

Start with the greasy chips and salsa. The salsa has some kick, but it tastes like it came out of a jar. They just add some chopped onions to it. That's obvious. The onions come in a lump on top of the red sauce.

Then there were our orders. My mom ordered ceviche. It came in a mound dripping with vinegar. She took one bite and announced she could not eat it. I tasted it and agreed. My mom later told the waitress that they "should never serve" the ceviche to any living person.

I decided to go light and ordered a lettuce cup with steak. It consisted of three large and inflexible pieces of iceberg lettus; a mound of cold, shredded cheddar cheese; a pile of bite-size beef chunks that was a uniform gray color and was unseasoned; and a lump of something that had chunks of avocado and some other, unidentified ingredients. I took one bite of the tasteless beef and had the same assessment that my mom had about the ceviche.

It then took five minutes to get the attention of a waitress -- not our own -- and told them that we could not eat the food. (In all fairness, our waitress apologized profusely and did not charge us for anything, including our iced teas.) But I will not be going back.

We then left and got take out from the Cheesecake Factory. I know there is a difference of opinion about Cheesecake Factory on this board, but trust me when I say going from Bobby Loco's to Cheesecake Factory was like going from McDonalds to Patina.
