Went to BOBA this evening with a fine bottle of California Pinot. I confirmed that they had BYOW when I made the reservation. When I got there and pulled out the bottle, the waiter checked to make sure that I was aware of the corkage fee ($25). We sat down, he brough some good Burgundy glasses and opened the wine. A bit later chef Bob (The Bo in Boba)came out and we talked Russian River Pinot Noir for a bit. The whole BYOW experience was great.
We hadn't been to BOBA for a couple of years. We were both amazed and comforted by how little the menu (and the whole restaurant, for that matter) had changed. The food was delicious. I had the scallops with roasted tomato and the rack of lamb. My wife the 3 small red peppers each with a different stuffing and the pasta with tuna and asparagus in spicy tomato sauce. We split a lemon cake for dessert - it was good but not quite sweet enough. All in all, an auspicious start to BYOW.
