I finally got to Blue Smoke last night. We started with the smoked mussels and the yellow gazpacho, both of which were well prepared. The mussels were especially flavorful, smoky, but not overdone, with a nice jalapeno kick. For entrees, we tried the KC ribs and the pulled pork. The pork was oversalted and lacked any bbq flavor. The ribs were meaty and tender, but sadly lacked any real bbq flavor. As with the frites from that 2nd avenue les joint, they remind you of what barbecued ribs taste like without actually being the real thing. Unless someone I trust tells me there's improvement, I wouldn't bother again. The service was very professional, polished and warm. Warning: Don't take anyone from Kansas City to Blue Smoke for the ribs. You'll never hear the end of it.
