Blue Plate Cafe redux ans GFulf Coast crabs

Amanda | Aug 21, 200411:27 AM

Jessi, are you serious? No blue plate special at the Blue Plate Cafe? That's kind of like finding no crabs on the menu at Joe's Crab Shack or no oysters at the Acme Oyster House. Hmmmmm and bother! They're starting off on the wrong foot with me!

Frank has me programmed to meet him and two other couples at the Ugly Dog Saloon today for a quick BBQ lunch if I can get this place cleaned up quickly enough. Jen and her stuff have left the building but my sister's back from supervising the move in, adding to the confusion. Sister's on her own for lunch.

My dearly beloved has been on a BBQ kick since the Gambit spread on New Orleans BBQ. He's tried and rejected Voodoo and Zydique and so far only approves of HP Pit Masters, located somewhere downtown - maybe on Franklin Avenue in the Eighth Ward.

I'm craving crabs and tomorrow we're driving over to Pass Christian with an armload of wine, sister and niece in tow, for dinner with Frank Sr. and Mama Gina and an assortment of other family. I called today to beg for crabs and only got a maybe. At least she said she'd look around.

So I'm wondering if anyone knows of a take out seafood place open on Sunday afternoon/evening on any of the routes back to New Orleans from Pass Christian that might have boiled crabs. Please, please, please......
or I may have to buy them at Winn Dixie or something drastic like that. Jessie? Celeste?
