Blind Baking: Do I have to throw away the weights?

I wanted to make a quiche for the first time and I have been researching for best results here on CH. I came across this idea about "blind baking" where you bake the pastry crust for a few minutes before adding the filling, you have to put some foil on the crust and top with something like dried beans or chick peas or rice. This will prevent the crust from puffing. I saw this on TV a few times come to think of it.

My question is about what to do with the dried beans/chickpeas I have used as weights. Since they have been baked, are they now useless or can I still cook something else with them?

Rather than use chickpeas or whatever, what are some other objects that I can use that seem less wasteful. Would blind baking work with marbles or would they be too heavy? I don't have small pebbles.
