blender advice sought

so I've been burning out cheap blenders... mmm... about one every 18 months. mostly I used my blender for emulsifying salad dressing, making smoothies and margaritas. salad dressing and/or smoothies, probably at least once a week... and well, probably the same for margs or other frozen delights in the summer time anyway.

I've been spending $30-60 bucks per blender... and while i've been happy with the performance as far as ice crushing, etc. I'm tired of throwing out appliances. I am ready to shell out say $150-$200 (or more if the price difference is really important).

so I'm looking for something durable, powerful and preferrably easy to clean (if i can throw the whole thing in the dishwasher that would be a plus). any recommendations or caveats?
