i have been to the lotus many times for the beer. aside from the overly salty popcorn (gone - now that they got rid of the machine) and a cheese plate, i have never eaten there and the place does not get much run on chow.

last friday, we went went there for the el guapo, a dark mexican lager that they roll out every cinco de mayo- one of my favorites. sadly, after the batch is done, it is gone until next year.

since we were there and had not eaten yet, we ordered off the menu. i got a burger with mushrooms and jack cheese. it was prepared more medium than the medium rare that i ordered, but overall, it was a good burger. good quality meat, a good bun, and the mushroom was sauteed portabello. not quite in the league of red coat or mason's, but it is a solid burger. think it was $6 plus $0.75 for th cheese and the mushrooms. my wife had a portabello melt sandwich. i didn't try it, but she said it was very good.

now i got to get back there and refill my growler with el guapo before its too late....
