Biscuits and sausage and grits, O my! Pann's redux...

The wonders continue to unfold...I was thinking that Pann's stopped serving breakfast at 11, but no, that's just the specials. So I tried to figure out what would be easiest to screw up, and ordered eggs OE w/sausage patties, grits and biscuits. I'd yet to find a truly good biscuit in this burg, nor any grits worth exclaiming about, but now I have! Biscuits wonderfully fluffy and tender, practically melted on the tongue...and as for the grits, I'm gonna say it loud and clear: 27 years of eating in and around Nashville, Tennessee, and I've NEVER HAD GRITS THIS GOOD. Not even at the world-famous Loveless! Not even at MY house! Creamy, hearty, yummy (of course, you do have to *like* grits to agree with me on this). Anyway, I did what any red-blooded chowdog is likely to do, and scooped the grits onto my plate, spread on some butterlike substance, dropped my tremblingly perfect eggs on top and the salt and the pepper and chopped it all up and ate like a damn barbarian, only with fork and biscuit. The sausage patties? Three cookie-sized thin, almost crunchy disks, spicy/salty/meaty enough to add the needed contrast, but I'll get a hot link next time. Or a pork chop...!

It's not every day I get something at any restaurant made better than I make it myself, and almost never at a coffee shop. Yesterday's pea soup and meatloaf, and today's grits and biscuits, simply amaze me. I came out of there one happy boy.
