Biscuits & Gravy = Food Coma

Finally made it to 3 Yolks Breakfast & Lunch this weekend. A friend of mine who loves his grits has been going for years.

Went Saturday with Scrubjay. We arrived about 12:15 and noticed that they close at 12:30. Three big burly men at the counter getting their eat on, for real. The hash looks fantastic, as do the grilled english muffins that went with it. I was actually coveting the english muffins. There's probably room for 20 diners in addition to the counter.

We both ordered the same thing: 2 eggs (scrambled) with potatoes, bacon, 1/2 biscuits and gravy. With coffee for each of us, this came to $13.60 including tax. The eggs were the best I’ve had out in a long, long time. Arrived at the table HOT, super fluffy, perfectly cooked and so good. Potatoes were well seasoned including some green bell pepper (a pile of which was on the counter) and they were most certainly cooked in bacon fat, mmmm. Biscuits were light and fluffy, gravy was salty and full of sausage bits, just too bad it was lukewarm at best. (Oh, yeah, don't get it twisted, I still cleaned my plate!) Another plus: good coffee, really. The waitress kept our mugs full, too.

The rest of the food? Oh, Lawd! Lots of Southern specials on the board: chicken fried steak, chicken fried chicken, catfish, southern scramble. You can get a 1/2 order of biscuits and gravy for $2.99. Can’t wait to go back and try more of the menu.

Did I mention that I wasn’t hungry again until about 6pm?
