Hi folks, long time lurker, first time poster here. We're heading to New Orleans for my birthday that's right after Christmas. We would like recommendations for a fancy foodie birthday dinner that I can take my 2.5 year old to. We have not had problems with fine dining with him in tow. He's been to Lazy Bear in SF when he was nine month old and ate the baby plate they prepared for him.
Recently, we ended up at Bicnic in Barcelona and La Condesa in Paris with my son (last minute walk-in without reservations I might add) and he and the restaurants all handled it just fine. I am thinking about going to Commander's Palace for brunch if they have outdoor seating.
Even though I'd been to NOLA a few times, the places I can remember are places like Adolfo's on Frenchman St and Chef Ron’s Gumbo Stop near the airport. We've tried a few places like Cochon, Acme etc and none of them stuck in my memory as noteworthy.
Any other general recommendations for the rest of the trip would be great too. We have 3 nights there and we eat everything.
Also can someone random find a real honest-to-god Creole crawfish boil (like the kind you would see on a TV show)? We've never tried because I assume you have to know locals who'd actually invite you to their backyard. We will have a car so we could potentially drive out if the drive isn't too far.
