I'm heading to NYC in March with my boyfriend and I want to take him out for a birthday dinner before (or after?) the theatre. We're both really adventurous eaters and like things that are a bit more unusual.
We will be at the Cort Theatre on 48th (btw. 6th & 7th) - show is from 7 to 9.
I want to take him somewhere special - erring on creative rather than just plain fancy, although price really isn't an issue. I've looked at the menus for some of the other restaurants recommended on the site and found them to be a little plain or with a bit too stuffy ambiance (i.e. Marseille, Le Bernardin, etc.). The Alto website won't load their menu, so I guess that's still an option.
Anyway, we're not tied to one particular cuisine. The leader right now is Esca, but I'd love to know if anyone has some other suggestions for really good/exciting food that would befit a special night out.
Thanks for your help!
