Was introduced to these cocktails about 4 years ago at great bars like Adesso, Comstock, Bourbon & Branch & a terrific Miami joint, the Pawn Broker in the Langford Hotel. Most now all defunct, RIP.
So the Skibum & I tried it at our home bar after reviewing several similar recipes: 2oz Bourbon, 1/4 oz lemon juice, 1/4 oz grenadine, 1oz vermouth & dash of orange bitters, shaken. The result was so bourbon heavy—too much so— and I don’t recall any of the past drinks ever bordering on this. Trial adjustments are a natural but at 2oz a drink...I could use any suggestions at ratio options to save my booze & my brain...
