Excellent Philly cheese steaks at this humble place, "Big'' Jim's Famous. The meatloaf sub was surprisingly good (I'm not usually a big meatloaf fan) and the Cubans, while far from authentic, were really flavorful. And huge.
I've never been to Philly, though I've eaten my share of cheese steaks, so I'm wondering if any natives around here have tried Big Jim's and how they compare. Or if others are more worthy.
There's a place called Colonial Corner on 49th St. in Pinellas Park that looks like the real deal, and was named in 2005 by Philly Magazine as the best cheese steak outside Philly. I'm looking forward to trying theirs.
