Friends, Hounds, Countrymen; lend us your opinions! Wife and I going to HI in a week. Three days (=nine meals) each island. Being academics with more taste than $, our primary food concern is good value for the money, whatever the price. After extensive research, we came up with the following lists for each island. Which rests. would you drop to get down to three Bs, Ls, and Ds on each island?
MAUI: Sansei, Mama's Fish House, Sarento's, Sam Sato's, Wei Wei, Azeka's, Hali'imaile General Store, Home Maid Cafe, Maui Culinary Academy (L only), and Hanokowai Okazuya Deli.
HAWAII: Alan Wong's (Q: Is Alan's as good on the other islands as on Oahu?), Roy's (Same Q. here), Brown's Beach House, Merriman's, Izakaya Kai, Honokohau Harbor Rest.(name unknown), Ba Le, Kona Ranch House, Parker Ranch Center Food Court, Sam Choy's, Seaside Rest., Ocean Sushi, Kuhio Grill, Nori's Saimin, Thai Thai, Tex's, Big Island Grill, Teshima's,and Mamane Bakery.
OAHU: Chef Mavro's, Mitch's Sushi Bar, Farmer's Mkt., Nico's, South Shore Grill, Chinatown e.g., Fatty's, Char Hung Sut etc., Ba Le, Bangkok Chef, Yohei Sushi, Imanas Tei, Sansei (Marriot?), Aloha Sushi, and Jimbo.
KAUAI: Hamura Saimin, Polynesia Cafe, Fish Express, Mark's Place, Hanamalulu Cafe, Hanalei Dolphin (D only), Paradise Cafe, The Beach House, Kountry Kitchen (B), Lihue Barbeque Inn (B), & E.B.'s Eats(L).
