Next week, I am surprising my husband with a long weekend in Montreal for a *memorable* birthday. I have been researching restaurants, etc. but just discovered this message board today! I would like to review some of my (limited) restaurant thoughts with you and ask for any additional input and suggestions. We will be staying at the Hotel Place d'Armes and would like to go to restaurants in the area or easy cab ride away as my husband can't walk very long distances. Thanks.
Smoked Meat - I had thought we would try Ben's, but it looks like Schwartz's is the better choice. Is this correct?
Gibby's - I had thought about Gibby's for a special evening out, but I don't see many recommendations for it. Should I disregard? What would be another restaurant to consider?
As part of our hotel package, we have one dinner at Les Ramparts. Do we need to "dress" for this occasion?
We are pretty relaxed folks and would be comfortable in a modest setting for dinner and lunch. Any thoughts?
We live in a cosmopolitan area, so we would like to enjoy the food indigenous to the Montreal area as we can get a lot of ethnic cuisine where we live.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
