Birthday outing to Biff's last night, my first time there, and as it turns out, my first winterlicious event ever!
There were 11 of us late twenty somethings...and after a few drinks, we were a bit loud, luckily by that point most of the restaurant was clear (although we did get one look from a 2top, but I hope it was more to laugh at our discussion of songs by old boy bands!)
On to the food, the starter was mostly shrimp pate and scallops by the table, most loved it..it contains lots of cilantro, which i hate. Others had the mushroom soup, which they said was good, and the salad, no comment, no complaint. For the main, the beef (something, I cant recall the french name) was the most popular item..melt in your mouth beef atop some potato truffles...one person had the Coco Vin, which she said was decent, one had the sole, which looked good as well. For dessert there was a choice between a double chocolate cheesecake with white chocolate sauce and a mango sorbet...the cheescake was yummy, not chocolate overload, but, at the same time, nothing special, same for the sorbet.
Service was ok on the whole, deserved the 15% gratuity added on, forgot a drink/bread here and there...
For 11 of us, 1 or 2 glasses of wine each, the total was only 630.00 with tip, pretty great!
My question is, should they tell you the gratuity will be added on, or is it just expected? In my experience I've always been informed. What do you think?
