Beware--Tocqueville RW False Advertising

Marion Morgenthal | Jul 14, 200503:35 PM     30

I had lunch at Tocqueville today. Things started off well when I had to call to change my reservation time, and was accommodated very pleasantly.

I checked both the NYC and Company and the Tocqueville web sites this morning to confirm that they continued to serve the restaurant week menu--both sites indicated that there was a $20.12 3 course menu available. When my guest and I arrived at the restaurant----no such menu choice. The tasting menu was far less appealing (and more expensive) than what was posted on your own web site. When I asked the waiter about it, his reaction was, "well, we changed it."

I was quite disappointed and felt suckered by deceptive advertising. It is well within the restaurant's purview to change the menu whenever they would like, however, it is not acceptable to advertise one thing publicly and have reality not match the publicity.

For a supposedly high class establishment, surprisingly low class behavior.
