Beware shanghai 1930

sfeatz | Nov 15, 200412:29 PM

I'm going to have to nominate this dog for worst restaurant since 1930. I went there years ago and can confirm after visiting again that it remains jsut as bad. I certainly wonder how it gets by, I can only speculate that the music/bar and cigar room are what sustains this place (maybe it has cheap rent b/c it's underground). we started with squab in lettuce cups, which was decent (although a very gloppy hoisin), and eel & celery gaag. Had some shrimp dish just plain peeled shimp w/ a vinegar dipping sauce which was fine, we had some beef dish like chewy- it was like they recycled the eel dish, gaak. somebody who shall go nameless ordered the pork shank, just gross- veal shank, lamb shank OK, this was one of the most unattractive dishes ever encountered. We also had a very unmemorable chicken dish. bill for 4 $120. forget this place, fast.
