Just returned from four days in the Berkshires. As I have read on this board, the restaurants were not outstanding. My report:
Firefly in Lenox: Definitely the best of the bunch with its tapas-inspired menu. We shared a variety of tapas and then I had the veggie plate. The lemon grilled escarole was terrific.
Cafe Zinc: The bartender was friendly and had a generous pour. The wait staff was poor. (I had heard that many of the experienced staff had been let go.) The food was merely okay, and my husband's quail appetizer was not completely cooked.
Napa: Seemed okay for lunch with lots of salad options. My chicken nacho salad was odd. It was hot (not just the chicken) with a soupy dressing that seemed to have rice in it. The salad also contained to peas.
Dakota: Not great, but the salad bar had lots of organic ingredients and the steak was fine for the price.
