Another Berkeley Naan 'n' Curry Location!

Zach Georgopoulos | Aug 3, 200405:37 PM

Don't know if it's been mentioned yet, but I was quite thrilled to notice a new Naan 'n' Curry location in Berkely last night -- on College Ave., next to the Elmwood theater. A friend and I had some tandoori chicken, daal, palak paneer, and aaloo gobhi. The vegetable and bean dishes struck me as the best of the lot -- not as heavy as equivalents at Shalimar. Of the three, the aaloo gobhi was my fave. Come to think of it, we also had a fourth -- a chick-pea dish, but I can't recall the name. That had an amazing, buttery sauce. The tandoori was interesting, in that it was a whole piece of uncut chicken, not served in the sizzling style of other places (I've never had tandoori at the other NNCs, so I don't know if it's just their style). Very well spiced, but could have been hotter (both physically and from a spice perspective). The naan itself was glistening and fresh, though I think the Tenderloin location makes it thicker. As with other NNCs, you orde first and pay later, but at this one they have you wait and then tell you what table to go to. Caraffes of water abound...
