I just moved to Berkeley (a few blocks from Fourth Street, spitting distance from the Gilman Whole Foods) from Jacksonville, FL. I'm 22, female, recently graduated, and work a regular 9-5 locally. I don't know anyone here, hoping for help from Chowhound!

My boyfriend was born and raised in the East Bay but is as far from social as you can imagine and doesn't care as much for dining experience/quality as I do, so he hasn't been a help at all in finding new places to go.

Looking for great coffee, craft cocktails, happy hour, and dinner suggestions, preferably places with a younger crowd. I'm feeling really frustrated by how old everyone is in Berkeley (no offense to the 40+ crowd!!) and I need places where I can be social, make friends, and find amazing food and drinks within my neighborhood….It seems like oakland has a better selection but I don't drink and drive, plus the traffic here is horrendous, so cheaper uber fare = better.

Places I've got on my radar/have already tried:

- Zut! Tavern (Newly reopened)
- Iyasare
- Albatross
- Nightlight (Oakland)
- Ramen Shop (Oakland)
- Prizefighter
- Tigerlily
- East Bay Spice Co.
- Westbrae Beirgarten (Not my thing, too many families and children)
- Vik's Chaat
- Pasta Shop/Cafe Rouge/Tacubaya/Nearly everything on Fourth st.

Suggestions, anyone?!

Iyasare
Ramen Shop
Prizefighter
Tigerlily Berkeley
Viks Chaat
Market Hall Foods Oakland
Market Hall Foods Berkeley
Tacubaya
