Belgian feast - and now the mussels

Hi and thanks everyone for their input on my birthday meal planning.

The menu will be:

Salad of Belgian endive, radiccio, celery root and pears with an hazelnut dressing (from the williams sonoma website)

Mussels and fries
Homemade mayonnaise, maybe one plain and one flavored with either garlic or mustard

Belgian chocolate ganache tart (as recommended by Candy on this board, originally from Everybody eats well in Belgium)

Now, my question is "should I cook the mussels marinière (white wine) or with Belgian beer"?

I am looking forward to receiving your input on this utmost (!) important question.
