Beer: Great Pale Ale seasonal tasting - Dogfish 120 Minute

Well the deep winter Pale Ale season is drawing to a close and this year's bottling of Dogfish Head 120 Minute Imperial PA is still on the shelves.

This beer retails for $7.50 a bottle ($45.00 a six pack)... similar to their astounding imperial stout, World Wide Stout.

Anyway the 120 Min IPA was tasted side-by-side with the exceptional Alpha King from 3 Floyds (also in bottle) as a basis of comparison.

Bottom line, the Dogfish 120 was the clear winner with better taste, texture, aftertaste, and aroma...

And Alpha King is a super-solid benchmark so 120 Minute passed any reasonable "test" for a super-high quality IPA.

Still I'd rate 120 a bit below Dreadnaught as the Dogfish is a bit "one-dimensional" and notably lacks much in the way of bitter notes.... it's definitely IMPERIAL in nature with the creamy sweetness.

Dogfish 120 Minute: A profound Imperial PA.
