Had to drop a note to remind those few who havent been to Karam (4th Ave. between 85-86 streets) to give it a try. My lamb shawarma was wonderful, as always with a mixture of tender shredded lamb, their garlic sauce, parsley and pink turnip pickle shreds (the chicken shawarma of course is classic). Husband's kofta was more ordinary but still good and charry. They were serving up lots of big slabs of kibbee with sides of pickles and olives (not on the menu) and on friday nights they serve up plate of fried fish .
We also noticed a new (maybe just to us) Vietnamese restarant called (I think) Pho Hoai on the west side of 4th between 86-87. There was a sign that said they have SANDWICHES to perhaps this is another Brooklyn bahn mi source. Will have to check further.
