I will be visiting a friend (in the SE) over Memorial Day weekend, and will be cooking a meal for her and friends. The guests are wine lovers. Additionally, my friend does not eat meat (only fish and vegetarian).
Portland Hounds, I would love a guide to interesting, not-too expensive markets in the SE area or close to for my dinner ingredients. Obviously, I'm ready to supplement farmer's market wares with Trader Joe's.
Menu ideas (I'm open except for the constraints above) are also appreciated. I would love to serve a meal that is the essence of Portland in May. I'm committed to spending a full day foraging and cooking, but nothing that takes more than a few hours.
