I had to drive from home (Santa Monica) to Del Mar so on the recommendation of the hounds I took a detour off the 405 to try a sandwich at this place.
It was excellent. This is JUST the kind of thing you want from your chowhound experience: a beat up little hole-in-the-wall, authentic, great flavors and just way happening. My sandwich was so good - full of tasty meat loaf and head cheese and fresh cilantro and pickled veggies - that on my way back north I stopped again and got TWO sandwiches. So there.
Question one: they seem to have a lot of odd little pastries and glutinous things there...anything else worth trying?
Question two: since I will be making this drive often, and Westminster/Garden Grove seems like a good place for a break - what other Vietnamese chow experiences can anyone recommend? Maybe other banh mi joints? Quick 'to go' type places are best but hey, I'll hang for the real deal.
Question three: Any decent banh mi closer to home, e.g. the westside?
Thanks for all help,
