I actually make both, but banana cake more often- it is a very requested recipe once I bring it places.
here's my recipe, but has nothing to do with Bolivia. Easy & delicious! (but yes, cheating with cake/pudding mixes)
1 (18.5 oz) pkg yellow cake mix
1 (3.5 oz) pkg instant banana pudding mix
1 cup water
1⁄4 cup vegetable oil
3⁄4 cup mashed bananas
2 cups powdered sugar
2 TB milk
1 dash vanilla
1⁄2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Preheat oven to 350
Grease & flour tube pan (or bundt I guess) Put dry cake/pudding mixes in bowl. Make a well in the center and pour in eggs, water, oil, and mashed banana. Beat on low speed until blended. Scrape bowl and beat 4 minutes on medium speed. Pour batter into pan. Bake 50-55 minutes- until cake is done. Cool for 10 minutes, then turn on wire rack to cool completely.
Glaze: In small bowl combine powdered sugar, milk & vanilla. Whisk until smooth. When cake is cooled drizzle over. Sprinkle nuts on wet icing if desired.
