Baking Question - getting things ready?

Hi... I'm making 2 homemade cakes tomorrow AM and want to get things as ready as possible ahead of time. One of the cake recipes calls for egg yolks. Is it okay to separate the eggs tonight ahead of time? Also, would it "work" to get all the dry ingredients mixed ahead of time and then just resift them really quickly tomorrow AM? (as you can tell, I'm not much of a baker so thanks in advance)
