Hello all, things are getting cooler and cooler around here and there's no better time for baking than when the chill winds blow (not that there's a bad time for baking, ever).
I'm excited to delve into the new Nick Malgieri Pastry book, and am casting around for some interesting cookies or squares to make this weekend. Any recommendations?
Apple this and that is a possibility, because I now possess a peck of Northern Spy apples, the best for pies, thanks to the kindness of a dear friend. Any special apple desserts I should know about? (Last week I made another Apple Dapple cake, for a retirement party at work. It was snarfed up in no time flat.)
Furthermore, this is getting into the holiday season, so Thanksgiving desserts and holiday cookies are just down the pike...I saw a brown butter walnut pie recipe that sounded like just the ticket for Thanksgiving chez nous: http://www.saveur.com/article/recipes... (ooh, Mama!).
How about you? What are you baking these days?
