on main street in flushing near 40th road (just south of the lirr station and on the same side of the street) are two adjoining storefronts. one is called mayflower bakery & cafe. the other is called tai pei noodle house. once inside, these two storefronts form what could be called a "constructive" foodcourt (u-shaped). persons who don't frequent flushing could unknowingly walk by some of the best hand-make dumplings in queens. these dumplings can be found in the back on the tai pei noodle house side (left-side looking from street). they can be purchased ready to cook or cooked while-u-wait. they make ~10 varieties. the leek & pork dumplings (10 for U.S. 2.50 cooked), for example, are more flavorful than the northern pasta house's dumplings, which are pretty good. i have not had time to try too many other foods here, but beef soup with hand-make noodles, mung bean congee, and scallion pancake with embeded egg are some of the many dishes waiting to be consumed. upstairs is seating area with a panoramic view of a municipal parking lot.
