Bakery items that will fly - literally - across the continent (Porto's, etc.)

JBinOC | May 17, 201507:53 AM

Am flying from here to NYC, and want to export some signature LA/OC bakery item(s) in my carry-on.

My first choice -- a cake or crumb pie from Jongewaard's Bake n Broil -- surely won't travel well. My second idea is to go to Porto's and get some Dulce de Leche Kisses.

Two questions:

* Do Porto's famous Potato Balls need refrigeration? If so, would they survive being unrefrigerated for about 8 hours, from point to point?

* Other than Dulce de Leche Kisses and (maybe) Potato Balls, is there any other unique-ish bakery item anywhere in LA or OC that is easily transportable?
