Bakeries in Palo Alto or Menlo Park

IPAforBreakfast | Mar 20, 201307:52 AM     13

Help! I'm a Cal bear stuck in Stanfordland looking for a good bakery. My friends have graciously invited me to their home for dinner and I offered to bring dessert. I'd love to bring a pie, tarte, or torte....cupcakes as a desparate last resort. I'm new to working in Palo Alto and don't know the equivalent to Crixa/La Farine/PIQ in the area.

My Chowhound seach came up empty and Yelp (shudder) seems to only point me to bakery cafes that appear to concentrate on serving savory food.

Any pointers will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
