Why are baked beans for breakfast popular in the UK, but no longer popular in the US?

Fro my understanding the tinned baked beans were originally imported from the US. Heinz is the most popular brand for baked beans in the UK, even though its American company. Many beans are native to the Americas, and were brought over to Europe.

In the US, baked beans used to be very popular breakfast food from the 18th century until the last 40 years. Why did baked beans become less popular in the US?

Edit: Maybe I should go further back. But baked beans were definitely eaten alot in the US in the 19th century and early 20th century, since it was part of US army rations until the 1950s
