Bahar Shishkebob on Coney Island Avenue

Zephyr | Apr 30, 2001 11:30 AM

We went on Sat. night to this establishment and were pleased. Among us, we had lamb curry, several "homemade" noodle dishes with yogurt, garlic. Also a mixed kebob of some sort. It had chicken, lamb. Very tasty. LOTS of food for the money. Nice lassies (sp?). No alcohol, of course. We brought a couple of beers, but I might not do that next time, because I wonder if it is considered ungainly to bring alcohol to an Afghan (Islamic) place. (Is it?)The service was clumsy but attentive and well-meaning. There were several mix-ups in the kitchen but all were corrected amiably. It is an unlikely staff for an Afghan place and there seemed to be far too many people employed.

I'd say its worth the trip of you don't live too far. Its 984 Coney Island Avenue - not too far out (toward CI, that is).
